At a young age showing a strong aptitude for art, Norman was discovered by the important Swedish painter
Anders Zorn (1860 - 1920).  Zorn sponsored his studies at the Art Academy in Stockholm and financed
campaigns to Spain, France, North Africa and Italy.  

Norman was captivated by the warm light of Southern Europe and his work is characterized by luminous
passages dappled by his colorful palette.
