in Paris most of his life. Most sought after by collectors are Pavil's depictions of theater and café life in the art
districts of Paris, where he captured the colorful night-life of Montmartre and its personages in a bold and true
impressionistic styles, in pure premier-coup technique. Later in life, Pavil concentrated in depicting everyday
life in the Médina and along the shores of the estuary and the port of Rabat, Morocco.
His most desirable works are generally small in format, quickly executed with assured brushstrokes and careful
attention to light and color. A highly regarded painter, Pavil exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes (from
1905), the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d’Automne (from 1906). Works by the artist can be found at
the Musée d’Orsay and the Petit Palais Museum, in Paris.
